What Are You So Pissed About?

Many of you might be wondering why I've decided to add that my reviews on New Noise Magazine are not copyright infringements, as they're my own work that I've been graciously given the rights to link here. But there is a reason for that. You see, after recently doing linking to my review for Children Of Bodom's Halo Of Blood album, I received this in my inbox:

"Blogger has been notified, according to the terms of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), that certain content in your blog is alleged to infringe upon the copyrights of others. As a result, we have reset the post(s) to "draft" status. (A bit of background: if we did not do this, we would be subject to a claim of copyright infringement, regardless of its merits. The DMCA is a United States copyright law that provides guidelines for online service provider liability in case of copyright infringement.)
The URL(s) of the allegedly infringing post(s) may be found at the end of this message. This means your post - and any images, links or other content - is not gone. You may edit the post to remove the content in question and republish, at which point the post in question will be visible to your readers again.
If you believe you have the rights to post the content at issue here, you can file a counter-notification. For more information on our DMCA policy, please see http://www.google.com/dmca.html.
The notice that we received, with any personally identifying information removed, will be posted online by a service called Chilling Effects at http://www.chillingeffects.org. We do this in accordance with the DMCA. You can search for the DMCA notice associated with the removal of your content by going to the Chilling Effects search page at http://www.chillingeffects.org/search.cgi and entering the URL of the blog post that was removed.
If it is brought to our attention that you have republished the post without removing the content in question, then we will delete your post and count it as a violation on your account. Repeated violations to our Terms of Service may result in further remedial action taken against your Blogger account including deleting your blog and/or terminating your account.
If you have legal questions about this notification, you should retain your own legal counsel.

Sincerely,
The Blogger Team

Now, read that all of the way through. Take it all in and you'll notice something odd, perhaps not right.
The infringed material is "Children Of Bodom, Halo Of Blood" but the location for the material happens to be in a recent interview that I did with Freedom's Reign. There is not one word dealing with Children Of Bodom there.
Of course, I notified the magazine and the guy who I write interviews for (Tony Shrum) stated that "everyone is completely okay with what you are doing, I don't know why they got you." and then when I got back to Clawhammer PR, those guys told me that they were quite upset that an interview got taken down from a completely different band. Now, I have actually spoken with New Noise owner Lisa Root about using unused questions and linking to reviews on this page, and she has said that it was fine as long as I linked back to New Noise Magazine.
I enjoy working for New Noise, working with labels and bands and PR groups. I like promoting great music and feel that my fans here should also have the right to the content I post elsewhere as long as it is okay with the content holder. Also, this will mean that people who normally wouldn't visit New Noise Magazine will be urged to check it out to read my full Children Of Bodom review.
I have not had any other issues since this incident, but it greatly disheartened me and my work. Realize that no one pays me any monetary sum for my work, I'm doing it scot-free while trying to balance a dayjob and working on a novel at the same time. This is charity work, more or less and the charity is great underground bands. That's why I ask, but will never demand your monetary support. I'm not that kind of person. People used to tell me "Why aren't you getting paid, I'd never do that work if I didn't get paid!" but I enjoy the opportunities I've had and hope to grow in this profession in the near future, to a point where I may start getting recompense for my work as I would be a respected writer.
And this is to Freedom's Reign:
I humbly apologize that your interview was unnecessarily taken down and hope that I was able to give your act enough promotion during the time it was up. Unfortunately, until further notice I will not be able to bring it back up.
To the rest of you here at the tower, thanks for sticking with me and supporting me. I'll have new stuff up soon snough, I've just been very busy as of late and will be covering about 12 discs a week instead of the usual. However, you can expect bloated run-throughs of previous releases and underground stuff to pop up in a short while. Yes, I'm going to be doing some one prargraph review runs. So stay tuned for that.
Sincerely,
The Fallen Alchemist/Eric May (The Grim Tower/New Noise Magazine)
